Silver
Palm Leaf was formed 23 billion years ago, a fungal voyage of panspermia set
off from the
white hot crucible of the big bang. Traversing the extremities of the lightcone,
a voyage spanning aeons, they remained connected to the light source.
This was the effigy,
in it's timeless travel; and from its gleaming spires came the younger creations
of the snow goddess; art was the inspiration; cold logic the executioner;
and with a nonchalent flick of its articulated tail the liquid bulk of the
curved structure pass smiling into that dimension we call our own.
For many moments it hung - aware yet intert in the cool vastness of space it
knew the source; it was hanging out; it chilled in the lonely depths of the
universe; it winked at the clusters of stars and they winked back.
With a flourish that
could have mused any passing philosopher the shape morphed itself into a
finite floater and began to move softly towards the galaxy of tides. Suddenly,
and
yet curiously without any apparent immediacy it arrived in the skies above
earth. For a while it hung out, looked around; oscillating with oscillations;
rippling with ripples. Then, slowly and with great purpose it descended until
it touched the Earth. Heads of corn under its bulk lay down and slept and
it lost itself in the cool embrace of thousands of millions of photosynthetic
paradigms.
Like a stethoscope
listening to the heart of a planet, it communed with the mother and felt
the joy and the pain. Then with deliberate motion it rose and was gone. The
corn continued to sleep where it had been caressed to the ground, and the
planet had been touched. Nothing would ever be the same again.
